How To Create A Bootable USB Drive Using Rufus For Any OS

Friday , 15, May 2020 Comments Off on How To Create A Bootable USB Drive Using Rufus For Any OS

Rufus is a software that allows you to create bootable USB drives in an extremely simple and secure way. It even comes as a portable version. The portable version can be installed without admin rights and/or can be run from a USB. In reality, it does not matter whether you prefer the normal or the portable version. That's because it is always the same software file that only differs from the installation type. Now, let's see how easy it is to create a bootable USB drive using Rufus.

Rufus

  1. To get started, you need a USB flash drive. After that make sure to download the corresponding file for your OS.
  2. Download and install Rufus software from this link.
  3. Plug the target USB flash drive before starting the program. Make sure to backup any important data stored on it, as it will be fully formatted in the process. It is best to unplug all other USB drives to avoid confusion.
  4. After that start the program. You may be prompted to update the program when you launch it for the first time. If you already have the latest Rufus, then it will say that you already have the latest version installed.
  5. At first glance, the program window is not cluttered thanks to the clean, minimalistic user interface. When you launch it, your USB device will be automatically detected by the program.
  6. Now it's time to select the ISO image. Use the "Selection" button on the right to select your ISO image. If several operating system editions are in the ISO image, Rufus will ask you later which one you want to use. You can even download the ISO image via Rufus.
  7. If you have done it correctly, now you can click on the "Start" button to start the process of creating a bootable USB drive. Simply select "Start" and continue past the warning that the USB drive will be erased. Please take this warning seriously and make sure once again that the correct drive is plugged in and that there is nothing important on it. This process will take a few minutes.

After the process has completed, you can eject the USB drive and remove it from your computer. Now, your bootable USB drive is ready to use and you can do whatever you want with the installation. Have fun with it!
